Junior Beach Volleyball in conjunction with EEVB adult leagues

1. Schedule/Location: Each night is a separate program with separate fees

a. Cedar Beach in Town of Babylon Tuesday evenings

b. E. Quogue: Tuesday evenings

c. Nickerson Beach, Lido Beach: Thursday Evenings

2. Time: 6:15 pm until sunset.

3. Dates: June 17 – August 19 (10 weeks)

4. Ages: 8 to 18 (open to anyone under 18 up to the summer before they enter their senior year in high school)

5. Divisions: (divisions will change depending on how many players sign up for each group)

a. 8-10 years old: beginner

b. 11-13: very basic volleyball skills

c. 14-18 years old: more advanced (Nickerson Beach is 15-18 year olds only)

d. Players will be broken up mostly by skill level. Ages are used mainly as a starting point to break players into groups. Players may.

6. Details:

a. The goal of the program is to teach players basic volleyball skills in a non-competitive environment. Any games played will be without scoring to avoid placing too much pressure on winning and to place focus on performing

b. All divisions will have coaches teaching players the basic skills. The first part of the evening will include a coaching session followed by organized games for players to practice their new skills.

c. Players may be moved during the season as their skills improve.

d. League will be run on lower nets to allow players to learn spiking and blocking skills as well as serving and defensive skills.

e. Main coaches will have high school and college level coaching experience.

7. Costs: $130/player includes

a. League t-shirt

b. Volleyball

c. Weekly coaching sessions

d. Organized games

e. Volunteers are welcome to help organize games and to learn from league’s coaches

f. Fee covers entry into 1 session: Tuesday @ Cedar or Tuesday @ E. Quogue.

8. Additional costs:

a. All players must be members of AVPNext, the grass roots program of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.

1. Go to www.eevb.net/reg, click on Juniors: select day, site and age group (Please enter parents info under player #2)

2. Click AVPNext to obtain membership # for player, which will come in a confirmation email right after your register.

2008 Tournaments & Florida Junior Programs

Junior doubles tournament will be held every Sunday at March 2008 Florida Tournaments plus at selected northern sites to be announced in April
